Besides being used as everyday tools, nails have also been used in artistic creation, resulting in various forms such as nail paintings and nail sculptures.

Nail-and-thread painting is an art form where nails are fixed to a wooden board to form an outline, and then lines are arranged and combined to complete the artwork. Community and cultural institutions have organized related creative activities.

Some artists use nails and wood to create sculptures; their works have been exhibited and collected by institutions. Other artists use nails to create portraits.

During the creation process, the density and height of the nails are used to express the light and shadow relationships and three-dimensionality of the image. Tools have evolved from hand hammers to nail guns, and safety precautions must be taken.

Some nail paintings and sculptures are collected by institutions or individuals.
